Ecology and conservation of freshwater turtles
Most Asian turtle populations have been decimated at an unprecedented rate for food and pet market. Field surveys have been conducted to investigate the current population status of endangered freshwater turtles in Hong Kong. I have been collecting ecological information, such as habitat use, diet and reproductive biology, which help inform conservation actions. This work is being done in collaboration with Dr. Jonathan Fong (Lingnan University) and Dr. Kevin Shoemaker (University of Nevada, Reno). The work on Big-headed Turtles was part of my PhD study under the supervision of Dr. Nancy Karraker (University of Rhode Island) and Dr. Billy Hau (The University of Hong Kong).
